Position Description
To develop, administer, and direct strategic and tactical operational activities related to assigned service lines throughout Porter Adventist Hospital. These activities include evaluating the components of service now available to identify gaps and barriers in the system and to develop processes with team members to reduce the gaps, overcome the barriers and provide the greatest accessibility within the catchment area. The process of evaluation and process improvement will include a close working relationship with the Medical Director(s) of Service(s). In this manner, the position will play both a strong strategic role in ensuring program growth and viability as well as a tactical role of insuring that work processes are designed to produce high quality clinical outcomes cost effectively. The position’s primary focus is insuring that Services are available in our communities’ at the most appropriate point of service. The director will work collaboratively with the clinical teams throughout the South Denver Group and the Centura Health system.

SERVICE Directs the development of strategic and operational programs for the service area. Plans and implements established departmental and service policies and procedures, which compliment nursing division and hospital policies and procedures. Establishes and maintains satisfactory customer and public relations through direct or delegated contact. Performs job functions/duties, providing effective verbal and written communication to both internal and external customers.

QUALITY Ensures compliance with all regulatory agencies governing health care delivery and rules of accrediting bodies by continually monitoring the service and hospitals’ operations and its programs and initiating required changes or improvements.

COST Coordinates development and tracking of both operational and capital budgets for assigned departments. Assures that resources are allocated within departments to provide optimal patient care. Management of costs as measured by established financial standards.

PEOPLE Establishes service performance goals, allocates resources and evaluates performance. Adjusts staffing to assure adequate levels for patient care delivery. Provides mentoring and coaching support for service leadership and staff. Collaborates effectively with physicians, peers, staff and administration to promote interdisciplinary communication and cooperation.
Community Maintains an ongoing analysis of clinical service performance and monitors trends and opportunities. Recommends, initiates and evaluates service improvements to meet the changing market needs.

GROWTH Maintains professional affiliations and enhances professional growth and development.

Minimum Education Requirements
Bachelors degree in relevant discipline;
Masters degree in a health related field or clinical discipline, preferred

Minimum Experience Requirements
7 years of management experience and proven leadership experience within assigned service line areas
