Contributes to the fulfillment of the Centura Health Mission and Vision by serving as a designated administrative leader for Centura programs and services in the community.  Responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and directing resources over several Clinic sites across a wide geographic region. Serves as a patient advocate as well as a role model for ethical management behavior and promotes and awareness and understanding of positive ethical and moral principles consistent with the Mission and Values of Centura Health.


The incumbent works collaboratively with all Centura Leadership executives to achieve Centura Health Physician Group goals and objectives. The individual serving in this role has full authority and accountability for the day to day operations of the assigned clinics.  This position requires the skills and abilities to build collaborative relationships with physicians and other members of the management team to fulfill his/her  accountabilities.


In addition, the incumbent serves as the liaison with each service line.  This position works collaboratively with medical staff, community leaders, agencies and payors to carry out the goals and objectives outlined in the strategic plan.  A key role of this position is to build strong relationships with physicians and employees for Centura Health Physician Group and to achieve high levels of patient and customer satisfaction.


education requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, healthcare administration or equivalent; Master’s degree strongly preferred.


work experience requirements

  • Five to ten years of progressive healthcare management experience.  Experience working in a multi-specialty clinic environment preferred.

  • Strong knowledge/application of systems framework, excellent strategic thinking skills, demonstrated resource, management, and stewardship skills, strong team orientation, good understanding of total quality management concepts, strong customer focus, demonstrated ability to lead/implement change activities, demonstrated skills in influencing through relationships, excellent analytical thinking skills and excellent oral and written communication skills.





Position duties (essential functions, INCLUDE % OF TIME)




  1. Oversees all aspects of clinic operations within assigned Centura Health Physician Group division.

  2. Responsible for maintaining strong, positive relationships with the physicians and other providers practicing in assigned facilities.

  3. Collaborates with Medical Directors to improve the operations of the assigned CHPG Division, including strategic planning, patient satisfaction, physician relations, quality assurance, and other operational improvements.

  4. Develops, monitors and responds to a full range of financial, service and quality indicators in all areas of responsibility.

  5. Develops, recommends and manages the approved capital and operational budgets in support of strategic plan within areas of responsibility and supervises the business affairs of assigned clinics.

  6. Ensures that revenue cycle processes and procedures are tightly coordinated and that all services provided are monitored and tracked within assigned clinics.

  7. Accountable to monitor and oversee contractual relationships including provider enrollment and credentialing.

  8. Works closely with the medical staff to obtain input and support of program initiatives and improvements.  Supports the medical staff functions and facilitates the transition and orientation of new medical staff.

  9. Along with COO, maintains a cohesive management team that collaboratively meets the objectives of CHPG.

  10. Maintains a system of management reporting that provides the system with timely and relevant information in all areas of responsibility and oversees negotiation and finalizing of professional, consultant, and service contracts in accordance with Centura Health and CHPG policy.

  11. Reviews complaints, concerns or questions relative to assigned areas.  Is responsible for the timely resolution of problems or concerns relative to programs and holds the authority to carry out necessary changes.

  12. Assures coordination of accreditation and licensure activities and oversight of quality assurance/improvement initiatives for assigned clinics.

  13. Leads/supports development of Centura Health quality initiatives and other programs to continually improve cost effectiveness and quality of services and patient and customer satisfaction.

  14. Assumes responsibility for such duties and projects as may be assigned by the COO.

  15. Participates in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory as well as those required and provided by the department.

  16. Demonstrates work practices consistent with Centura Health and department-specific safety, security and infection control policies.

  17. Must have ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural environment.




  1. Works with the Centura Health Physician Group executive leadership team and the Centura Health Planning department in developing short- and long-range business plans for assigned CHPG division.

  2. Consistent with CHPG priorities, plans and implements initiatives which support growth and a competitive advantage for assigned clinics.

  3. Ensures ongoing master facility planning to maintain physical properties on assigned clinics in a good state of repair and good operating condition and recommends improvements to facilities including construction renovation of structures and/or purchases of new equipment and information systems.

  4. Understands the needs of customers to the clinics and therefore plans and institutes new service delivery models, programs as assigned, or establishes departments as necessary to maintain operational efficiency and to meet service objectives and customer needs.

  5. Is actively involved in the community and community organizations to promote good public relations and to ascertain community needs as appropriate.

  6. In collaboration with Centura Health executives, establishes business development models to assure CHPG viable growth and volumes.

  7. Strategically evaluates and initiates measures to assure CHPG medical staff development and recruitment needs congruent with organizational growth strategies and operational plans.
