Care inspired and empowered by our Mission and Values

Sponsored by Catholic Health Initiatives and the Adventist Health System, Centura Health formed in 1996 as a faith-based, non-profit health network designed to manage and strengthen its hospitals and services. Our collective Values reflect the holistic care and wellness approach of the Adventists, along with the Catholic tradition of caring for the underserved.

Our Mission: To extend the healing ministry of Christ by caring for those who are ill and by nurturing the health of the people in our communities.

Our Seven Core Values: Compassion, Respect, Integrity, Spirituality, Stewardship, Imagination and Excellence

Centura Health’s culture is one of collaboration

Honest feedback calls for the discovery of new ideas for continuous improvement. Our clinicians and providers are empowered to provide care that meets the unique physical, spiritual and emotional needs of each patient. Our associates attest that the Centura Health Mission and Values supports them to “be better at their job” and it is evidenced by our patient satisfaction scores, quality metrics and awards.

Creating an enduring future – the 2020 Strategic Plan
In addition to pioneering care delivery that best serves patients and our communities, we’re positioned for success in today’s changing health care marketplace. Our strategic plan, Centura Health 2020, has revolutionized not just how we treat sickness, but how we enable wellness. The 2020 plan includes three primary pillars that guide our work: Strengthening our Foundation, Moving Upstream to Manage Health and Creating Systems of Care. Giving back – local presence and global reach
Giving back to our communities is a privilege and a perpetuation of the good that surrounds us. Our associates touch lives both inside and outside of the hospital through free health screenings, immunization fairs, health education classes and other planned outreach. Some volunteer their time and talent in remote places like Haiti, Rwanda, Nepal and Peru as part of our Global Health Initiatives (GHI) program. Because helping others is at the heart of what we do, Centura Health fully supports your passion to deliver care and comfort to those who need it most.

Awards and Honors
Because of our talented and compassionate associates, we have received numerous awards and honors for care, quality outcomes and patient satisfaction across a variety of medical specialties, services and programs from organizations such as the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, The Leapfrog Group, HomeCare Elite, The Joint Commission, HealthStream Research, American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Hospital Recognition Program, U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades. For details, visit our news page.
