Position Summary



Responsible for the procurement of all supplies, minor equipment and services for an assigned portfolio of departments for all Centura hospitals. Creates orders, verifies pricing and ascertains product availability. Purchases involve specialty vendors and may involve complex delivery schedules and urgent requests. Researches backorders and locates substitute products as necessary. Monitors purchase requests for contract compliance and works with Category Analysts to obtain cross-referencing information. Is responsible for monitoring ordering patterns and assisting departments in supply cost management. Works with departments to research products and problem solve as necessary. Acts as a liaison between associates, physicians and the hospital-based Supply Chain department.



Minimum Education Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required

  • Associate’s preferred



Minimum Experience Requirements




  • 3 years’ experience in Supply Chain, preferred healthcare

  • Competency with computer based automated purchase order system (preferably Lawson)

  • Analytical and computer skills are required to include Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio and Microsoft Project.

  • Completes appropriate contract research and national benchmarking*

  • Records and tracks all requests*

  • Identifies cost savings opportunities and negotiates with vendors as appropriate*

  • Ensures that all orders are processed in accordance to pre-established guidelines*

  • Ensures timely processing with a minimum of errors*

  • Ensures proper purchase terms and conditions and compliance to Centura standards*

  • Assures adherence to GPO contracts and Centura equipment standards *

  • Attends, coordinates and facilitates meetings as necessary*

  • Maintains an accurate tracking document for ordering and delivery of all equipment*

  • Review contracts for compliance to Centura terms and conditions*

  • Assures appropriate approvals from all stakeholders (IT, Legal etc)*

  • Assures changes recommend by legal are incorporated into agreement*

  • Develops supporting documents for programs as necessary*

  • Monitors vendor performance*

  • Assures timely response to customers and vendors*

  • Corrects invoice discrepancies.*

  • Remains current on GPO and local agreements.*'



Physical Requirements



Sedentary Work - prolonged periods of sitting and exert/lift up to 10 lbs. force occasionally
