Position Summary

The Data Integrity Specialist Sr provides day to day data integrity operational functions within Centura Health Revenue Management to maintain a clean enterprise master patient index. This position will complete investigative steps for chart corrections and perform root cause analysis to identify origin of problems. Responsibilities will include review, thorough research, and correction activities within Meditech, Epic, or any other designated system. This position will work closely and in collaboration with facility HIM, Patient Access, Physician Offices, and others on matters concerning integrity of the enterprise master patient index and chart correction issues. Participation in patient and patient proxy access to the portal will be required. The Data Integrity Specialist Sr will also train and guide associates and providers on duplicate prevention and correction procedures.

Minimum Education Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Associate or equivalent work experience preferred

  • Training in medical terminology preferred

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • 3 years of health information management , patient access, or billing experience.

  • Experience with the electronic health record (EHR) and health information systems and applications.

  • Effective communication, problem solving, and critical thinking skills

  • Attentive to details

  • Knowledge in health care compliance, HIPAA privacy and confidentiality laws

  • Demonstrated computer aptitude on healthcare related applications.

  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills.

  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.

  • Experience with Epic preferred


  • Prefer AHIMA credential – RHIA, RHIT

Position Duties (essential functions denoted with an * )

  • Works routine potential duplicate work queues including but not limited to Mark for Merge, Duplicate Warning Override Reports, and Demographic Change Reports.*

  • Completes all types of tasks based on workflow to research and resolve potential duplicates and overlays.*

  • Investigate and perform chart corrections.*

  • Complete unmerging of records when required.*

  • Responds to system wide Data Integrity calls and general e-mail box questions.*

  • Participate in patient and patient proxy portal access.*

  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to assist with problem identification and resolution.*

  • Prepares reports, presentations, and other documents as instructed.*

  • Follows and adheres to pre-defined quality and productivity standards.*

  • Assists with data cleanup projects as needed.*

  • Provide training and guidance to others regarding duplicate medical record prevention and corrections.*

  • Gather evidence in support of and participate in creation of best practice procedures.*

  • Oversee the dissemination of work in collaboration with the director.*
