POSITION SUMMARY



Develop, implement, and oversee clinical pharmacy services. Coordinate the maintenance of a cost-effective formulary through drug evaluation, overseeing the buyers at each hospital, and educating physicians and staff. Work with other clinical managers and coordinators to assure quality pharmacy services. Coordinate the pharmacy intern / extern / doctorate student program.



 



MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS



Bachelor's Pharmacy or PharmD required



 



MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS




  • 3 years as a clinical pharmacist, hospital preferred but not required.

  • Understanding of the components of a clinical service Demonstrated understanding of the components of a clinical service.

  • Experience in formulary management (i.e., P&T, MUE, and ADR reporting programs).

  • Teaching experience obtained during a Pharm.D., residency program, BCPS or other advanced pharmacy certification.

  • Demonstrated experience working with multidisciplinary teams and management.

  • Education or experience in the application of continuous quality-improvement, teambuilding, and individual/team autonomy methodologies in a professional environment.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams; management and communication skills



 



LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS



Registered in Colorado.



 



POSITION DUTIES



Leadership 50%;




  • Teaches problem-solving skills to professional departmental staff through modeling, instruction, and the establishment of clear expectations in conjunction with the pharmacy director/manager.

  • Responsible for performance management of assigned professional pharmacy staff. Provides on going performance evaluations for all clinical pharmacists and buyer (where assigned). Teaches problem-solving skills to team leaders and departmental staff through modeling, instruction, and the establishment of clear expectations.

  • Responsible for staff development including:  Coordinating a continuing educational plan and budget, coordinating and developing clinical competency.  Managing information resources including library materials.

  • Develops annual staff competencies, training and assessment programs as required by the Collaborative Drug Therapy Management regulations (CDTM). 

  • Assists with implementation and compliance of applicable Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements in conjunction with Pharmacy leadership.



 



Collaboration 35%




  • Maintains and improves clinical pharmacy services.  This includes justification of service, assuring appropriate provision of pharmaceutical care.

  • Participates in multi-disciplinary hospital committees pertinent to pharmacy to improve pharmacy services.

  • Acts as a resource for Hospital Directors, Managers, Coordinators, and others regarding pharmacy services.

  • Responsible for formulary management:  reviews drug classes and recommend additions, substitutions, and deletions to formulary; organizing P&T committee meetings.



 



Project Management 15%.




  • Demonstrates high technical ethical / legal professional pharmacy practices.

  • Performs special projects and other activities as assigned to increase and improve levels of service, skill level, and productivity.

  • Organizes, performs and presents the analysis of new requested Formulary medications so that safety, efficacy, cost-effectiveness and quality drug therapy are maximized.

  • Cooperates with representatives of other departments and facilities in identifying and solving common or shared problems.

  • Demonstrates proactive leadership in solving interrelated high volume or high risk problems encountered by departmental employees, work team members, and persons in related departments.



 



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
